In her early years, Sara was racially taunted by American citizens of all races. After she participated in a school competition and received high praise for her singing at the age of 9, the girl began to gain confidence. Not only did she gain confidence through the audition however, she also re-evaluate her the direction of her career. She graduated from the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. As she was turning 23 years old, she launched her career in Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, at 23 years old she made her film debut in You've Got Mail. The role of The Lady of The Lake was her greatest success, and earned her the Tony Award in addition to critical acclaim for her performance. Following that she was made the lead character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. Apart from being a popular singer, she has released two solo albums as well as an extended version. In addition, she has been a vocal advocate for LGBT issues.
