Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. Her first Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on screen and in television. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford is currently working on the film for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. This film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford will return in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. She has also been in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original part in the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
